‘Girls in the Magazines’ looks at the way the female body has been represented throughout Ally’s upbringing. It explores how modern day beauty standards are a societal construct that are enforced in day to day interactions and perpetuated by social media. These beauty standards are often unachievable leaving young minds lost as to why what they see in the mirror isn't what is being celebrated by the world around them. In recent times there has been a shift in this, with a larger outcry for transparency within these industries and audiences yearning for authenticity. 

‘Girls in the Magazines’ is an anthem for anyone who has ever felt like they were not enough. It explores the relationship many people have or have had with themselves and their appearance and provides an eye opening closing message of self realisation that no matter what you look like, what’s underneath is what truly counts.
